Partner Organization
Baan Phonsawan is a residential home and pre-school for children from severely damaged homes, run by Thai Catholic sisters.

Project
There are about 40 children supported in this home; older children attend a nearby government school, preschoolers are taught at the home. Some of the children have difficulties with identity documents, some come from abusive homes, others are street children. This project exemplifies the Dulabhatorn Foundation’s commitment to children who “fall through the cracks.” Most of the 4-14 year old residents at Phonsawan have been turned away by other government or charitable institutions because of developmental or intellectual disabilities, homelessness or because they lack required identity documents. Without Phonsawan, they would likely be living on the streets.

Our Contribution
Dulabhatorn underwrites the cost of education and general care through the following:

This institution, which is very near the office of the Foundation, will also function as a training facility for mountain day-care center staff in initial Montessori-based educational techniques.

Achievements
This is a well-run facility caring for severely disadvantaged children, who are now seen to be happy, enthusiastic, well-fed and receiving standard Thai education. The youngest children are taught at the home.
The sisters have created a remarkable family atmosphere at Baan Phonsawan that allows the children to feel safe, loved and cared for.
